Our clients had moved into their Edwardian end of terrace, but knew that they needed more space.

The garden space was already small, so some thoughtful design was needed to make the most of the space. We created a small ground floor extension and a pop out on the roof. A feature stair made of oak runs through the centre of the house and connects vertically, letting light from above fill the centre of the house.

A playful low embodied carbon extension with thermal upgrades and renewable energy

We insulated existing external walls and roof and re-glazed the house with modern windows. We installed an air source heat pump (ASHP) which feeds underfloor heating and low temperature radiators.

We used timber frame construction with recycled wood fibre insulation and made the extension from reclaimed Tudor Red and Staffordshire Blue bricks, textured as a nod to some of the details of the surrounding Edwardian houses.
