Nikki & Dexter home extension clients

We won’t compromise beautiful design for the environment.  We engage with our clients to create inventive, lasting and individual homes. We are experts at sourcing materials & finishes that are beautiful for your home & planet friendly.

We specialise in making sustainable homes that are both low energy in-use and low in embodied carbon (the energy used during the construction of your project). We always seek to reduce waste, reduce energy use, improve thermal performance & limit the amount of carbon used in the building’s materials and manufacturing process.

We offer a full architectural service from initial feasibility studies, through concept design, planning, tendering, construction supervision and contract administration.

We don’t believe in a ‘one size fits all' for our clients, we’re all different and should have homes that suit our individuals needs & personalities.

Working together, a guide:

We use the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) work stages for our projects. These set out the key tasks and activities to be undertaken at each stage and help to ensure that decisions are made at the right time to ensure that the project is well managed.

We offer a full architectural service including design concepts, tendering and construction supervision and contract administration.

Preparation & Brief

  • We will discuss your needs and objectives and undertake preliminary appraisals to assess the options and feasibility of your project. This can range from sketch designs to full feasibility studies and will enable you to decide on the best way forward. We will identify the need for any approvals and other consultants too.

Concept design

  • Using the initial project brief we will develop outline proposals. We will present a number of initial concepts for you to choose from. We will also liaise with the planning authority and prepare any pre-application information if needed. The final concept design will reflect your brief and provide you with a design that adds value, is sustainable and improves quality of life.

Developed Design

  • We will spend time at this stage transforming ideas into detailed drawings and a design report. This will include coordinating the work of other consultants into the designs. Once agreed the design proposals will then be submitted for planning approval.

Technical Design

  • At this stage we prepare the technical drawings and specification and/or a schedule of works that will be used to price the works and eventually construct the building. We then invite and appraise tenders from builders and evaluate them to give you guidance as to which contractor to work with.

Construction

  • Throughout the construction phase we will administer your contract with the builder, carry out regular inspections, deal with queries, instruct any additional work required, monitor progress on site, keep track of costs and value the works to certify payments to the builder.

Handover & Close Out

  • When the project is ready to handover we will make final inspections, raise any outstanding issues and certify completion. We will be available after handover and the defects period for a final inspection and to arrange for certifying the final payment.
