Arts Centre submitted for planning

We are thrilled to have submitted the planning application for our arts centre project with our partner architects Localworks for our client 32° East | Ugandan Arts Trust. The building will be Uganda’s first purpose built contemporary arts centre and Kampala’s first rammed earth building. It will be an exemplar of a low carbon, sustainable arts space and will be starting on site in March 2021.

The new centre will be designed to support the local arts community and be a source of arts enrichment for the neighbourhood.  The centre will also boost the Ugandan art scene, providing artists with world-class facilities for their work.  It will house 6 artists’ studios, a dining area, a library, a shop and accommodation for visiting artists. These combined will provide a multi-purpose hub for the conception, production and exhibition of new artwork by Ugandan and international artists.
